Katowice is a fantastic city to explore by automobile. Roads with tolls

In Poland, there are a number of toll roads. The one closest to Katowice is the toll road between Katowice and Wroclaw.

Some highways employ an open toll system, whilst others employ a closed toll system. Payment is paid upon entering the toll road under an open toll system. In a closed toll system, the motorist is issued a printed ticket stating the time and place of entry of the toll road; the toll cost is computed and paid when the vehicle exits the road.

Katowice, like the rest of Southern Poland, has a humid continental climate with warm, rainy summers and chilly winters. The average temperature in July, the hottest month, is 18°C, while it is -1.5°C in January. Katowice is recognized as one of the least windy cities in Poland.

Katowice is one of the major cities in Silesia, a historical and cultural area in southern Poland bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany. Katowice is home to the Silesian Museum as well as other Silesian ethnographic and cultural institutes, and many city residents feel proud to be not just Poles, but also (and often principally) Silesians. St. Michael the Archangel Church This historic wooden church is one of the oldest in Katowice and the surrounding areas. Built in a neighboring town in 1510, it was relocated to the city in the twentieth century and is currently placed in the magnificent Kociuszko Park.

Silesian Theater is a theater in Silesian. The biggest in the Silesia area, the theater has been an important cultural center for decades and is also one of Katowice's most renowned structures. The theater, which is as spectacular on the inside as it is on the outside, is located on the ancient market square, which is an intriguing section of the city in and of itself. The structure, which was originally erected as the German theater, is now more than 100 years old.

Katowice History Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of the city of Katowice. This museum, which covers several chapters of the city's history, highlights Katowice's industrial growth and the living circumstances of the region's early miners. It also explores the tumultuous twentieth century in Poland and features the works of Katowice artists.

While the general quality of roads in Poland has greatly improved over the previous two decades, some rural roads, particularly in the country's northern, southern, and easternmost regions, can still be in poor condition.
