Unless otherwise specified, the speed limit on all highways in Barbados is 60 km/h (37 mph), with the exception of the ABC Highway and the Spring Garden Highway, which have a speed limit of 80 km/h (50 mph).
When you drive, you must have your insurance and automobile documents with you.
Although Bridgetown is not a huge city, the capital and the highways around it may encounter traffic congestion, particularly in the mornings and evenings. It is preferable to avoid driving during certain times.
Many highways, especially those in densely populated areas, lack sidewalks, so you'll be sharing the road with walkers and bikers. Keep this in mind and drive extra cautiously after dark.
While major highways are in decent condition, certain regional and rural roads may have damaged surfaces or even potholes.
If you are the driver, you must always have your passport or ID card with you.
