The main attractions
Le Mans features a well-preserved ancient town (Cité Plantagenêt, commonly known as Vieux Mans) and the Cathédrale St-Julien, which is dedicated to St Julian of Le Mans, the city's first bishop.
The remains of a Roman wall may be seen in the ancient town, and Roman baths can be seen along the river. Every summer (July and August) evening, these walls are illuminated in a light show that chronicles the town's history.
