is the capital of the Sharon Plain, which is located in Israel's Northern Central District. Between Poleg stream and Wingate Institute in the south and the Avihayil stream in the north, it is 30 kilometers north of Tel Aviv and 56 kilometers south of Haifa. Netanya was named after Nathan Straus, a renowned Jewish American merchant and philanthropist who co-owned Macy's department store in the early twentieth century.
The city's 14-kilometer-long beaches have made it a renowned tourist destination. By population, it is Israel's seventh-largest city.
Kiryat Sanz - Rabbi Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam, the Sanzer Hasidim's leader, chose a coastline in northern Netanya as the Sanzer Hasidim's home base in 1956. Kindergartens, boys' and girls' schools, yeshivas, seminaries, synagogues, a children's home for orphaned and needy girls, an old-age home, and a hospital were all created by Halberstam. Kiryat Sanz has a diamond polishing workshop built by a New York diamond trader in addition to religious functions. In 1960, Halberstam founded his court here. Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Halberstam, often known as the Sanzer Rebbe, became the spiritual leader of the Sanz community in Israel after his death in 1994. Kiryat Sanz had a population of about 1000 families in 2010. Survivors of the Holocaust make up the majority of the older generation. There are five synagogues, a mikveh, a printing house, a religious hotel, a religious nursing school, and the Laniado Hospital, which includes two medical centers, a children's hospital, a geriatric center, and a nursing school, and serves a regional population of over 450,000 people.
Public transportation
Netanya's public transportation consists of buses, trains, and service taxis.
The Netanya railway station is on the east side of Highway 2 near the city center. Poleg Industrial Area is home to the Netanya Sapir railway station. The Beit Yehoshua train station, which is located in the Beit Yehoshua moshav, just south of Netanya, is a handy way to go to southern Netanya and the Poleg Industrial Area. Egged bus service connects these stations to the city, while Shay Li service cabs are very common at the Beit Yehoshua station. Netanya and Beit Yehoshua have direct trains to Tel Aviv, Binyamina, Hadera, Herzliya, Lod, Rehovot, Ashdod, Ashkelon, and other cities. From Netanya, transfer stations like as Binyamina and Tel Aviv provide access to all Israel Railways stations, including Ben Gurion Airport.
Egged buses travel to Jerusalem, Haifa, Eilat, and other locations from Netanya's primary bus station. Many districts have direct access to Tel Aviv, eliminating the need to travel through the city's central bus terminal. Furthermore, numerous Egged lines from Tel Aviv to the country's north stop at the Netanya Interchange on Highway 2, offering Netanya direct access to Nazareth, Tiberias, Kiryat Shmona, and other northern destinations. Metropoline runs bus services between Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, and the adjacent communities, including Hadera. Egged continues to run certain regional lines. Egged Ta'avura bus lines and Shay Li service taxis provide intracity transit.
