The Autostrada A10, also known as L'Autostrada dei Fiori, runs along the Ligurian coast between Genoa and Ventimiglia on the French border, serving Imperia. The route spans the valley and passes the city through a succession of high viaducts and mountain tunnels. The city is served by two junctions, one in the west at Porto Maurizio and another in the east above Oneglia. The A10 is also part of the European route E80.
Riviera Trasporti is the public transportation company that operates bus services in the Province of Imperia (RT).
The Genoa–Ventimiglia railway line passes through Imperia, and the city is served by a central Imperia railway station on a double-track route that opened on December 11, 2016, replacing the old narrow coastal route that was confined by the sea and long tunnels under the rocky coastline, and thus built as a single-track railway. The old line was established in 1872 and terminated with the opening of the new interior route; the city was serviced by two railway stations servicing the two Imperia centers, Imperia Porto Maurizio and Imperia Oneglia.
