The Church of St. Hippolyte The earliest known construction relics of the Pinzgau region may be found within St Hippolyte's Church. The church, which is primarily Romanesque in architecture, has three naves. Prior to 1794, the central nave was capped with a Gothic vault, but that year it was replaced by another vault, which was then replaced with a flat wooden roof in 1898. The crypt has been filled in, thus four stairs go up to the main altar. The narthex and aisles are still Gothic, although some of the other Gothic artifacts (such as the neogothic altars by Josef Bachlehner) were installed during the reconstruction in 1898, when the previous centuries' baroque furniture were also removed.
The raised walkway with its elaborate parapet, constructed in 1514, is the church's high point. The walkway is supported by four sculpted columns of costly marble, between which a complex net-vault is spun. Crockets crown the three pointed arches, which finish in pointed towers. Between the arches are Gothic baldachins from 1520 with cut-out images of St Hippolyte and St Florian.
The tower is the focal point of Zell am See's skyline. It stands 36 meters tall (118 ft). The outside of the strong walls is made of limestone.
The main altar was replaced by a Baroque altar from 1660 to 1670, and it was removed again in 1760. Apart from a few adornments, hardly none of the church's Baroque furniture survive. Two Baroque sculptures ended up at the Prielau church. The main altar is flanked by two 1480 sculptures of St Rupert and St Vigilius. The side altar has a picture of the Virgin Mary from the now-defunct Church of Maria Wald, which was built in 1540. In the apsis of the left nave is a modest shrine dedicated to St Sebastian.
The Grand Hotel Zell am See is located on a private peninsula directly on the edge of Lake Zell, on a private peninsula surrounded by water with a panoramic view of the Alps.
The Porsche family farm is located near Zell am See and was purchased in 1939 by the senior Ferdinand Porsche in preparation for war. During the war, he relocated part of his company activities here and to Gmund, away from Stuttgart, where his son Ferry Porsche stayed to oversee plant operations despite severe bombardment.
