Chernomorets is a town in southeastern Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast. Chernomorets is a renowned beach resort that is administratively part of Sozopol Municipality in Burgas Province.
Chernomorets is located about 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of the provincial capital Burgas, on the south coast of Burgas Bay, the largest bay on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It was known as Sveti Nikola until 1951. Chernomorets translates as "Black Sea guy."
Previously a village, it was granted town rights on December 2, 2009, on the basis that its resort status satisfied the demographic and infrastructural requirements. There is a primary school, a kindergarten, and a cultural center in town (chitalishte).
Chernomorets is located on the Strandzha mountain's low northern slopes, between Cape Emine to the north and the Arkutino marshes to the south. St. Ivan Island lies to the east, while Sozopol is to the southeast, along the seashore road.
Chernomorets features an Eastern Orthodox church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the town's patron saint. In front of it is a manicured garden known as the "Garden of Eden."
