Miami Playa (Miami Platja in Catalan) is a beach resort located on a beautiful bay on the Costa Dorada in Catalonia's far south. Beautiful sandy and shingle coves are interspersed with unique rocky reefs and cliffs throughout the region. A vast pine forest stretches all the way down to the shore and is interspersed with lovely hikes.
The resort has shops, restaurants, tennis courts, horseback riding, and a range of entertainment opportunities. The location is ideal for golfers and sports lovers (both land and water sports are available).
Miami Playa is easily accessible, with Barcelona about an hour away by car. It is a 30-minute drive from the airport in Reus.
Beaches
The beaches of the Costa Dorada, from Tarragona to the Ebro-Delta, are sandy and clean, with a gentle descent into the sea. Miami Playa features a children's park facing the sea, and during the summer, trampolines, ice cream stalls, and bars are placed along the beach itself.
The beach is kept very clean and is seldom crowded; there is always room to sprawl out; even in August, the busiest month of the year, you may position yourself right on the water's edge. Sun beds and deck chairs are available for a nominal fee during the summer, but you need bring your own parasol. There are also several tiny coves to explore in the region.
The Port Aventura theme park, just 20 minutes away, is a great full-day adventure. During the summer, there are some excellent rides and performances, as well as a massive firework display. The park is divided into themed regions such as the Wild West, China, Polynesia, and Mexico. It's great fun for the whole family, and your admission includes one express ticket for the more popular attractions, which means you'll be notified what time to attend for your ride and you'll be at the front of the line! They do stay open till 8 or 9 p.m. The Carrefour hypermarket in Reus is the area's largest supermarket. It sells food, clothing, electronics, CDs, bicycles, and other items.
