Los Gigantes is a tourist town in the municipality of Santiago del Teide on the west coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife. The town is called for the gigantic rock formations, Acantilados de Los Gigantes, which rise from the sea to a height of 500-800 meters. Los Gigantes translates as "The Giants."
The resorts of Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena lie nearby to the south. The town of Masca lies 3 kilometers to the north and may be accessed by boat or automobile.
The town features a marina that is enclosed by concrete barriers to reduce the impact of the strong seas in the region. Between the cliffs and the marina is a tiny black sand beach. There is a promenade with numerous eateries in the marina. A lido is located near the harbor.
The cliffs of Los Gigantes, known as Acantilados de Los Gigantes in Spanish, are a popular tourist destination on the island. In the town, there are three viewpoints: one on the major road leading to Tamaimo, another over the sports club, and a third on a seaside walk near the Hotel Barcelo. The hamlet includes numerous small stores and restaurants that cater to the visitors that visit the region, particularly around the one-way road circle around the church and plaza, as well as near the marina and beach.
Every year in February, a carnival parades through the hamlet. Los Gigantes, as one would anticipate from a town resort, has only one hotel but numerous apartments in comparison to normal houses.
